My name is Annette and I am an assistant leader for the Single Mom's group at
Trinity Ministries in Cedar Hill. It is awesome. I've been a single mom for 2 years and I have two wonderful boys 9 and 12 years old and we are so blessed to go to Trinity Ministries in Cedar Hill. Even when I was married I was impressed with all that we do for single parents and widows as well.
Please have anybody who is interested, drop me an email and I will call them or email them if they so desire. I love KLTY and am so glad that the radio station is here and that you are all there too!!! I love the music and the fact that even my 12 year old son likes the music because there is such a variety that appeals to all ages.

Frank,
I'm a single parent and have been connected very well at my church in Plano.
Fellowship Bible Church North -- Pastor Jeff Jones, 850 Lexington Drive, Plano, TX 75075
We are currently building a new facility on 75 & Legacy, right next to the movie theater. For the single mom, once per month is a fellowship called "Oasis" where single moms can get support with life lessons and fellowship. We have a very active singles ministry (including single parents) and beginning in January, there will be a Life Group (our Sunday School, meets twice per month) starting just for single parents.

Hi Frank,
Our church offers a Single Parent Action Network (SPAN). It is designed to help parents with finances, moral support, and other topics. There are activities for the children while the parents listen to a speaker on a particular topic. My church is
First United Methodist Church of Richardson on Arapaho and Central Expressway. I'm not sure how active our single parents group is in our church, as I am not affiliated with that area. But SPAN has been a great help to the parents. There is also a free dinner provided to the parents and kids.

Watermark Community Church in Richardson has an awesome division for single parent families. They not only take care of the parents but address issues for the children as well. Wes Butler is head of the Single Parents Ministry. He does an awesome job. They really focus on the single parent family in its entirety as a unit, not just the parent. If you get a chance, I think they deserve some real airtime. They have meant more to me as a single mom than I could ever express!!
Blessings Frank! I love your program! You guys are such a blessing to me in the morning! Perry Rocks!!!!!!

Frank, I attend
Saturn Road Church of Christ, located in Garland Texas. I was listening to your program this morning and heard your comments about finding programs for these single Parents to be involved in. Dr. Leman was absolutely correct in his statement that we as a church have been neglecting single parents. Not intentionally of course, but churches are so family oriented that the single parent often gets left out. We at Saturn Road are trying to address this issue. We have started a Wednesday night class for single parents. Ironically, we are using the video series, Effective Single Parenting That Works, by Dr. Kevin Leman. We only have 2 lessons left on this video series but will be starting another afterwards, Raising Boys to be Boys. If you have anyone interested in getting connected or would like to help us in our mission, please have them contact Ron Patterson or me at the number below. We would love to have them. Thank you for your work Jeff.

Hi Frank,
I lead a great single mom support group every Wednesday night at the
Garden Ridge Church of Christ in Lewisville. It's a wonderful group of women, some are newly single and others are more experienced and very encouraging and knowledgable. This group helps each other out daily!
We start at 7:00 pm but our church eats dinner together every Wednesday beginning at 5:30. And it's great for single moms because dinner is free for them! And there are classes for kids of ALL ages for the whole time we're are in group! Our motto is: Come learn, lean and laugh with us!
The number at the church is 972-221-3561.

Several folks told me to contact you about what we have for single parent ministry. I guess Frank Reed had asked for that. I am the pastor to our single parents. We have a "One Parent plus Kids" 10 week program that gives kids and parents healing from divorce or an absent parent. We do it twice a year. We have a once a month "Kids Night Out" where we have the kids for 3 hours while our sinlge parents get some much needed time away. During this we have a spiritual message and always lots of fun. This months event is IBC Idol night. The kids will be puttin on different acts, dancing, joke telling, karaoke and a lot more. Last month it was retro dance night. We have a Car Ministry where we give away 30 or so cars a year as well as having repair events each month. Our On Track Bible Community class meets on Sundays. The current series is Parenting Credo- what your kids need from you. In evertying we do, we pull in people from the community who may not ever enter a church, but they need help for their family. This is kingdom work. Our Community Carnival in May is a big monster event for the single parents out in our community.

Hi Frank,
My wife, Pam, and I attend
Sunnyvale First Baptist Church. We have been working with Single Parents for approximately 3 years and have been truly blessed by them during that time. The Single Parent community is one that is generally pushed off to the side and forgotten about by the traditional church because “they aren’t Single and they aren’t Married so we don’t know where to put them”. They don’t fit into the Singles Group because they have children and they don’t fit into the Married groups because they don’t have a mate. I have actually had a pastor tell me “we just don’t feel comfortable going in that direction and ministering to those people”. I thank God daily that Sunnyvale First Baptist Church is not one of those churches. According to the US Census Bureau, 16.9% of the 12.7 million Single Parent Families in the US live in Texas. That is approximately 2.1 million Single Parent Families. According to the United Way of Dallas, 1 in 4 of those 2.1 million Single Parent Families live in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex. That equates to over 536,000 Single Parent Families living in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex. With the steady increase of the Single Parent Family unit not only in the Dallas/Ft Worth area but nationwide, the specific need for a ministry for Single Parent Families is tremendous. After attending the SPFM Conference in Granbury, we felt God leading us to host an event like that with the focus being how to help the Single Parent raise their child in a godly manner or – “TRAINING MY CHILD IN THE WAY THEY SHOULD GO”. The bible tells us to “train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it (Proverbs 22:6)”. We believe the Single Parent Families in Dallas County need help with this – from the basics on up. We have chosen an outstanding Keynote Speaker from the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex that (1) has a heart for Single Parent Families, (2) is a Single Parent and knows first hand the specific situations that Single parents go through, (3) desires to help pull together the Single Parent Family community and show them that they are not alone and (4) is not PREACHY. We want this to be a Christian event, but not a revival. We believe that we must meet the "immediate" needs before they will be open to getting their "spiritual" needs met. We also know that Single Parents have Single Incomes so this event will be as inexpensive as possible - $20 for parent, $15 for Teen, $10 for child or THE BEST VALUE OF $30 for family. Childcare will be provided for a pre-registered $10 deposit per child, with a full refund after the parent picks up their child after the conference. Pre-registration ends March 4th, 2007. Please know that money will be made available for those in need. We do not want someone missing a valuable opportunity just because they cannot afford this, or think they cannot. As I said before, Thanks for your time and you ministry. We have been touched numerous times by your heart for the Single Parent Family community. You are truly a blessing for the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex. If you want to pass this around, we would truly appreciate as much input as possible. Specifically we are asking for prayer. This event can only be successful if God is placed in the center of it. We ask that you pray that God will produce a mighty fruit from this event, even if it is just in one life. Above all else, we need your prayers to ensure that this event is God honored. The Single Parent families in the metroplex need an event like this. Thank you for your help and keep doing what you’re doing. Please visit us at
