The 16th Annual Mayor’s Back to School Fair presented by Walmart and Sam’s Club is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Fair Park’s Automobile and Centennial Buildings. The fair is a family-friendly event providing an opportunity to increase awareness and availability of education, health and social services; including the distribution of free school supplies to nearly 15,000 children, free health screenings, immunization shots, haircuts and much more. As a “one stop” destination, the fair helps prepare economically-disadvantaged children go back to school through services provided by community agencies that specialize in helping children.
