Event Details:
Grand Prairie will celebrate the annual migration of the monarch butterfly from North America to Central Mexico on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Central Park, State Highway 161 between Arkansas Lane and Warrior Trail. This free event will include a monarch butterfly release at 2 p.m., kite flying, a kid zone with a bounce house and crafts, vendors, food, a contest and parade for butterfly costumes, and music by Lucas Miller, recognized as an “American Masterpiece” by the National Endowment for the Arts, blends music, puppetry, projected images, and “zoological, stand-up comedy” to teach about monarch butterflies, wetlands, animal defenses, endangered species, symbiosis, and other nature-related topics.
