CONTACT: Ariel Humble, External Communications Coordinator, Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth 817-529-7794 ahumble@lighthousefw.org Lighthousefw.org White Cane Day Celebration Walk The blind community of Fort Worth will host a walk to celebrate White Cane Day and the independence of people who are blind or visually impaired On Tuesday Oct. 15 at the First United Methodist Church, 800 West Fifth, Fort Worth. Celebrated every Oct. 15 since 1964, White Cane Day is the day set aside acknowledge the accomplishments of people who are blind or visually impaired and the instrument of independence, the white cane. This is the fourth year for the walk in Fort Worth. An anticipated crowd of 100 to 150 will kick off the event at FUMC at 10 a.m.; the walk will go from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. when lunch, provided by Dominos Pizza, will be served back at FUMC followed by a media presentation by local visually impaired students.
