A Tornado Watch has been issued for all parts of North Texas through 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is reporting delays as storms blow through, but a number of flights delayed was not yet available.
As of 2:30 p.m., storms that have come through the area so far have had strong winds and rain, but little to no hail and no tornadoes.
Collin County had the most power outages, with 2,557 without power as of 2:45 p.m. The other counties had Dallas with 1,374; Tarrant: 976; Denton: 364.
There were reports of wind speeds as high as 65-70 mph in Denton County this afternoon.
Multiple local districts and private schools opted to release students early ahead of the potential severe weather.
Alvarado ISD, Cleburne ISD, Godley ISD, Maypearl ISD and Venus ISD all released students by noon on Tuesday.
Cleburne was hit hard last week by tornadoes and is still in clean-up mode with some residents unable to return to their damaged homes.
All schools operated by the Catholic Diocese of Dallas dismissed at noon, as well.
